Yooo, we're not done talking about this marketing project just yet. I want to go more into detail about the process of brainstorming and planning that I and my group had to do before creating our masterpiece of a band that is SCARZ.
First off we had other ideas on what to name the band as we had already done some research on popular heavy metal band names. We had these in mind: DEATH TOLL, PAIN TO GAIN, and FOREVER NEVER. the reason we decided to stick to SCARZ is that none of the other names could connect as much to the mental health awareness we wanted to raise with our music.
Most of our planning was deciding how we would convey the message of mental health awareness through our video. So, we studied the lyrics of the song "DUALITY" a bit deeper and realized that the specific repeating lyric of "I push my fingers into my eyes, it's the only thing that slowly stops the ache" could be referred to as a way to make one's mind at ease. The way we represented this within the video is with pills to give the effect of relieving the mind and letting go of everything. I don't think I've shared the music video with you guys yet so here you can see exactly what I mean.
The Production of the video was extremely chaotic... but fun. My group and I enjoyed just going out and shooting the video although it proved tricky at times we made it happen and we are more than happy with what we came up with as Mental Health Awareness is not the easiest to portray in a Heavy Metal song.
The Post-production of the video was fairly simple as we were aiming for a storytelling style of video and we decided the fewer edits and the more straightforward the video the better it would portray the message of Mental Health Awareness.
As for our presentation, I feel like we killed it. We were able to say all the things we wanted with ease and answer the questions fairly simply while effectively selling the audience the idea of SCARZ and its theme to raise awareness for Mental Health. My favorite part of the presentation was the merch as came up with some pretty cool items that we thought the class would absolutely love and according to the feedback we received... THEY DID!!!
