THE meeting

hey...YOOOOOO, in todays blog I'll be discussing the group meeting we had in class.

I had a lot of feedback to take in since my group members' projects were amazing but at least the creative juices were flowing and I have many ideas lined up for the film. 

We discussed all types of things  like the fonts for the title, the name of the film (which I'm still unsure of) the editing software that everyone is using (iMovie, PremierePro) 

All of my classmates had great intros and super creative stuff. I get really inspired form seeing everyone project and seeing everyone focused on their projects, it motivates me to keep going and do better to surprise myself.  Some of the classmates I talked to were doing the project in a group, some friends stick to classic solo movements like me. The ideas were definitely flowing, there was some boxing, and there was some super good murder mystery and a multiverse inspired.

After meeting with my peers, I got really inspired and  thought of things that I should be doing, here's a list:

TO DO;

• Find title ASAP
• Start editing
• try new things, flashbacks, play around with lighting and have fun editing
• ask for help...LOL

Hellooooo WORLD, it has been brought to my attention by one of my friends that read my blog, that I NEVER TOLD YOU GUYS THE NAME OF THE FILM. It was my fault, I guess I just wanted to finish recording and all the other things ASAP and totally forgot about it. But luckily I still have the list I made when I chose the name... LEFT FOOTED

Clearly, you guys can see that I had many names lined up but of course ended up landing on LEFT FOOTED. The reason is that usually when something goes wrong we have an expression that goes "that took a left turn" as in that was not what I expected, hence the name LEFT FOOTED, because Guillo got scammed out of some old sneaker he paid good money for.

I know, so clever right (don't make fun of the name it took a while to come up with)

Well anyways hope you guys like the title since its a little play on words

sneak PEAK/ Film Dayyy

 The day has ended and ALL the filming has been done... in the fewest words possible I would like to say this film is PEAK (a common term used around the youth that means best of the best)

I have never laughed this hard making this project especially since I was with my closest friends Grace and Isabella, they really made this whole thing possible so THANK YOU GUYS (I hope they read this)

It's pretty clear where this line up in the storyline but I just wanted to see if you guys are paying attention to my posts...

For this fantastic footage, we went to the Sagemont Preparatory School which has a huge parking lot to record on.

But most importantly we shot on an iPhone 11 which has none other than 

• 4K video recording at 24 fps, 25 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps
• 1080p HD video recording at 25 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps
• 720p HD video recording at 30 fps
• Extended dynamic range for video up to 60 fps

Which came insanely handy for that crisp footage that you saw above

We used other tools to help us record like this selfie stick since its all I owned for extra help recording

OFFICIAL SCHEDULE

 Guess what? ITS GOING DOWN TOMORROW! MARCH 27TH

With the help of my spectacular friends Grace Winans and Isabella Deschiave we will be shooting tomorrow so get ready for a funny post about the grueling process that takes place for this master piece to come ALIVE!

Fonting around

 Heyyyyy, last thing before I show you guys all of my editing work, I want to show you all the different fonts that were about to make it into the final cut and which one did, I was lucky enough that one of my peers from class, shoutout Constantino, introduced me to this really cool website that helped me a lot in picking the font for the film, so, here are some examples of what it could have looked like.

I was really considering this font but in the end, it wasn't catchy enough to make the final cut so I ended up throwing it into the drafts 

On the other hand, here is one that I absolutely hated when I put it out there, it reminded me of a scary movie so it never ended up making the final cut

And lastly here is one that was just MEH, I have no other way to describe it really, it was just too generic for my vision

NOW THIS, this is what I'm talking about, suuuper dope and matches the vibe that I was trying to use in the film. Absolutely fell in love with this font as soon as I saw it, hence why it made the final cut

What's good everyone! Im not going to lie, I'm a little bit bummed because I have not received an email back from the MF DOOM team after reaching out to them to try to get permission to use the song "Meetgrndr". They nicely turned me down, (By not answering my email). The childish Gambino Team said they'll get to me.. but what if they don't...hey it's okay! I won't give up and I'm going to look for a cool beat that will match the vibe of the intro, something similar. 

I'm keeping my ears wide open and listening to many songs, and many beats on youtube and trying to find something similar, I think I have to give up on the Big artists because they are hard to reach and or will make me pay, and... I don't have the budget for that right now.

I cannot lie, it took me some time to get to this, but I finally completed it with the perfect vision I had in my head. This also means that we will be shooting soon so be prepared for  a blog post about that.

 Good morning y’all, just wanted to come on here really fast to talk about what I got my hands on regarding the props that I’m going to use throughout the film.

Yesterday I picked up 6 extra shoe cool shoe boxes with different variety and patterns (shoutout my dawg Jonathan) to really show they don’t call our sneaker reseller “Kicks” for nothing. I’m working on getting more cooler looking boxes just to add on more depth to the scene I have planned in my head where all the shoe boxes are sitting in Kicks car.

I have some heat posts lined up next for you guys where I’ll be showing all about the costumes and clothing design or the mood board I created about our main character Guillo

QUICK UPDATE: Emails are dropping!

 Yo yo yo, I just wanted to come on here really fast to tell you guys that the emails are sent! I was able to reach out to 2/3 of the artists, Nas and MF DOOM successfully. For some reason finding the contact information for the label that holds the rights to Biggie's music, you have to pay a fee of $30 which I WAS NOT DOING. But after a long time and I mean A LONG TIME, I was able to find the right contact information for Nas and MF DOOM. SO...Yay? Now all there is to do is wait for a response *nervous laugh*

Detail is key

Yooo, guys I realized that I abruptly changed my topic about the film and haven't really gone into detail about the vision I have to make it as enjoyable as possible for me and whoever is going to grade my film LOL.

First off, the main plot will be about our main character Guillo (who will be played by none other than me!) and he is a 17/18-year-old teen, the opposite of a troublemaker and someone who would rather not get in the way of others to cause trouble. He wants to invest in some new shoes but he's a newbie to the sneaker scene and wants to get involved by purchasing a new pair in a public sneaker meet-up where we will meet our next character, "Kicks" the anonymous neighborhood sneaker re-seller with a lot of street cred (don't have someone to play this character yet but I will keep you guys updated) And finally, Guillo's best friend and his complete opposite, Steph, an absolute sneaker head that can spot out the tiniest mistakes to spot out a fake shoe and would rather get in trouble to get what he wants than to get fooled by anyone.

Next, I want to talk about the target audience, since the film revolves around shoes, which is a trendy topic among teenagers, and especially since the film will be a comedy, I think it would be most appropriate to make the target audience for teens 13 and above. Besides the age range, I want the film to be directed towards males specifically as I think the girliest girls wouldn’t really be interested in this topic.

What I'm envisioning is something along these lines where "Kicks" would offer Guillo all of the shoes available in his "shop" and... well I don't want to spoil the whole plot for you guys hehehehe.

I'm going to leave it here for now but will get back to you guys with another post soon where I talk about what type of mood I'm trying to set with the sneaker meet-up.

What's the mooood

 Yooo, I cooked up something really nice for you guys! I made a mood board for our main character "Guillo" and his best friend Steph. The reason I made these mood boards is for you guys to be able to understand these characters a bit more by just looking at the type of aesthetic the mood board portrays them as.

Here is Guillo's mood board.  I included his style of clothing or wardrobe that will be similar to what he will be wearing in the film. Also, the colors indicate his nonchalant, relaxed mood that will be portrayed as well with his personality in the film. Guillo is supposed to be the chill guy that daps up everyone in the hallway, somehow gets away with everything, and is pretty smart when it comes to real-life situations, in school however, not the brightest. He's more of a lonely wolf, not your typical popular cool guy, in fact, he's not even all that. 

Steff is the type of girl who at first could be shy at first but in reality, she's funnier than any guy you've ever met. Steff is one of the girls that everyone thinks is super laid back and chill, but honestly, she has a superiority complex. She has a super cool style and is a City girl for real.

But, I won't lie, the feeling I want to give these scenes is pretty specific so I decided to take my time to find the right artists and songs to pair up with my masterpiece and, of course, I want to pick out songs that people will be able to know and bump to so it's more relatable for the audience.

Feedback from the gods?

 Yooo, what's up guys, I got new info about the film that I want to share with you guys since I think is pretty cool. And no... God didn't actually give me any feedback about my idea it was just clickbait :)

So, I happen to be friends with people that are currently in the A level of AICE MEDIA class (Julie Bruzon and Joey Costa) and decided to share my idea with them to get some feedback on what some good ideas on are how to come about this film.

Julie told me that although the idea seemed solid and could be an interesting opener for a 2-minute film in reality the plot is a bit empty and narrow so it wouldn't be fit for a whole movie.

Joey told me the same thing, but he added that if I want to make a comedy to make sure the movie was actually funny and that the jokes weren't cringe and to make multiple jokes or have a running gag within the film to not make it feel like the film was dragging out.

And finally... the most important feedback of them all...my sister! 

Fun fact my sister took both the AS and A level of MEDIA, so I take her feedback pretty seriously.

She told me that the idea was good-ish :( but she told me that I needed to decide whether I want the main character to be funny or have funny things happen to the main character and not a mixture of both to create a contrast and just make the whole film not funny at all.

I'll decide and act on all that feedback and get back to you guys later...peace.

SCRATCH THAT

 Yooo, guys I came up with a crazy good idea for the film that from the looks of it no one has done before. Hear me out… a film about sneaker reselling but with a comedic twist! 

Call me crazy but this idea actually came from two things I haven’t talked about in the blog. One, I am a shoe enthusiast ranging from Nikes to Designer shoes but… I don’t have money to afford the shoes I really really like and two, the new shoes I bought were FAKE, so the order was canceled and now the shoes are selling for $50 more than what I paid for :)

As depressing as it sounds it came in handy since it gave me a cooler idea than making a cringe romance story. I haven't thought about all of the details yet but as of right now I decided that it will be a comedy about a guy buying a fake sneaker then trying to figure out how to get his money back from the seller.

Give me some time to think and I promise I'll come up with something fire (specially since the deadline is coming soon)
