Every intro deserves to come with a BANGER

Heyoooo what's up! I'm very excited about this blog because I'm diving into that I could babble about for hours upon hours... MUSIC. In my opinion, the right way to open up this film is to set the tone right away with some kind of beat, song, or lyrics to set the mood for the scene.

Since I introduced the whole idea of a film revolving around sneakers I automatically thought of some rap classics of the early 2000s that will match all the scenes I have planned. But, I won't lie, the feeling I want to give these scenes is pretty specific so I decided to take my time to find the right artists and songs to pair up with my masterpiece and, of course, I want to pick out songs that people will be able to know and bump to so it's more relatable for the audience.

The artists that have been nominated are... DRUMROLL PLEASE!

-Nas: Nas is Like

-MF DOOM: Meat Grinder, Gas Drawls

-Childish Gambino: Wisdom

-Biggie Smalls: Hypnotize

HEAT ALERT! if you haven't heard these songs yet... what are you doing? GET TO IT. Anyways, these songs really fit the vibe I'm aiming for, a low-fi chill mood that will come in handy in the sneaker meet-up scene and other secret scenes I haven't disclosed with you guys yet. Of course, I will be looking for more songs that might make the cut later but for now, I will work on emailing the record labels that hold the right to these songs to make sure I can use them to avoid any copyright issues. I hope they answer in time because if they don't that'll be embarrassing...pray for me!

I will make sure to keep updated on the film coming over the next weeks. Stay safe and at least go listen to the MF DOOM songs, they're truly a masterpiece.

Feedback from the gods?

Yooo, what's up guys, I got new info about the film that I want to share with you guys since I think is pretty cool. And no... God didn't actually give me any feedback about my idea it was just clickbait :)

So, I happen to be friends with people that are currently in the A level of AICE MEDIA class (Julie Bruzon and Joey Costa) and decided to share my idea with them to get some feedback on what some good ideas on are how to come about this film.

Julie told me that although the idea seemed solid and could be an interesting opener for a 2-minute film in reality the plot is a bit empty and narrow so it wouldn't be fit for a whole movie.

Joey told me the same thing, but he added that if I want to make a comedy to make sure the movie was actually funny and that the jokes weren't cringe and to make multiple jokes or have a running gag within the film to not make it feel like the film was dragging out.

And finally... the most important feedback of them all...my sister!

Fun fact my sister took both the AS and A level of MEDIA, so I take her feedback pretty seriously.

She told me that the idea was good-ish :( but she told me that I needed to decide whether I want the main character to be funny or have funny things happen to the main character and not a mixture of both to create a contrast and just make the whole film not funny at all.

I'll decide and act on all that feedback and get back to you guys later...peace.

SCRATCH THAT

Yooo, guys I came up with a crazy good idea for the film that from the looks of it no one has done before. Hear me out… a film about sneaker reselling but with a comedic twist!

Call me crazy but this idea actually came from two things I haven’t talked about in the blog. One, I am a shoe enthusiast ranging from Nikes to Designer shoes but… I don’t have money to afford the shoes I really really like and two, the new shoes I bought were FAKE, so the order was canceled and now the shoes are selling for $50 more than what I paid for :)

As depressing as it sounds it came in handy since it gave me a cooler idea than making a cringe romance story. I haven't thought about all of the details yet but as of right now I decided that it will be a comedy about a guy buying a fake sneaker then trying to figure out how to get his money back from the seller.

Give me some time to think and I promise I'll come up with something fire (specially since the deadline is coming soon)

Alright... Now what?

Yoooooo, we're back :) I've really been on the grind trying to find any ideas for The Portfolio Project and the nerves are starting to kick in. I have some cool ideas but again none of them are giving me that "THIS IS IT" moment so I'm going to hold those back for now. But, I narrowed it down to two genres. DRUMROLL PLEASE.... ROMANCE and THRILLER.

The only reason why thriller is even an option is because I recently watched the movie "SKINAMARINK" that has been blowing up on TikTok. If I had to describe it with one word it would be "what?" the movie is like nothing I've seen before, maybe not in a good way but it definitely gave me goosebumps while watching.

Regardless, Romance is at the top still as I don't have a concrete idea for the thriller genre. As of now the best idea I have is about a guy who breaks up with his girlfriend and over the weeks he writes her letters about how he's holding up and reminiscing about the past they shared together but, he never sends the letter as they are just a way to cope for him.

AGAIN, it is just an idea, I know how cheesy or cringe it sounds BUT, in my head this super doable and I am confident that It will end up just as I envision it (If I don't find anything better to do)

PRAY FOR ME Y'ALL

The Start of Something Great?

YOOOOO, hopefully you guys are as excited as I am because as of now... IT BEGINS. The final stretch of AICE Media Studies... The Portfolio project!!!! All right, all jokes aside this project is going to test my creativity levels like crazy and as of right now I'm not feeling very creative, but when there's a will there's a way... right? Anyways, as of  now I'm in the process of researching different genres to see where I find some type of inspiration.

But, if you really a fan of the blog you should already know... I LOVE DRAMA LOL. But let me be serious this time and really lock in. I have a lot of ideas if I do end up doing drama but I might step outside my comfort zone this time around just to challenge myself who knows ;) Anyways I hope all of you are ready to follow me on this journey because ITS GOING TO BE A LONG ONE!

Peace

FINALIZING THE MUSIC MARKETING PROJECT

Yooo, we're not done talking about this marketing project just yet. I want to go more into detail about the process of brainstorming and planning that I and my group had to do before creating our masterpiece of a band that is SCARZ.

First off we had other ideas on what to name the band as we had already done some research on popular heavy metal band names. We had these in mind: DEATH TOLL, PAIN TO GAIN, and FOREVER NEVER. the reason we decided to stick to SCARZ is that none of the other names could connect as much to the mental health awareness we wanted to raise with our music.

Most of our planning was deciding how we would convey the message of mental health awareness through our video. So, we studied the lyrics of the song "DUALITY" a bit deeper and realized that the specific repeating lyric of "I push my fingers into my eyes, it's the only thing that slowly stops the ache" could be referred to as a way to make one's mind at ease. The way we represented this within the video is with pills to give the effect of relieving the mind and letting go of everything. I don't think I've shared the music video with you guys yet so here you can see exactly what I mean.

The Production of the video was extremely chaotic... but fun. My group and I enjoyed just going out and shooting the video although it proved tricky at times we made it happen and we are more than happy with what we came up with as Mental Health Awareness is not the easiest to portray in a Heavy Metal song.

The Post-production of the video was fairly simple as we were aiming for a storytelling style of video and we decided the fewer edits and the more straightforward the video the better it would portray the message of Mental Health Awareness.

As for our presentation, I feel like we killed it. We were able to say all the things we wanted with ease and answer the questions fairly simply while effectively selling the audience the idea of SCARZ and its theme to raise awareness for Mental Health. My favorite part of the presentation was the merch as came up with some pretty cool items that we thought the class would absolutely love and according to the feedback we received... THEY DID!!!

Alright man, let's wrap this whole project up. This project really opened my eyes to the genre of music as a whole. Because not only did we explore the Metal genre but the others groups introduced us to other types of genres which were just as cool as Metal. What I personally learned is that with enough time and effort, a project can really come to life with personality and not look generic and boring as my group was able to do with SCARZ. This project can be helpful when developing my Cambridge portfolio because my work will be reflected and Cambridge will know how hard I and my group worked for the outcome and success that came with our very own SCARZ. It would also show that my final goal is to show my creative abilities and not just create something for a grade rather making it for my own personal experience and knowledge.

MUSIC MARKETING PROJECT

Yoooo, it’s been a looong time since I’ve posted but is for a good cause, me and my team have been working on a music marketing project I would love to share with you guys.

My team and I have to create a music video and branding for the heavy metal hit song “DUALITY” by Slipknot.

Second Life Marketplace - .:A.G.T:. Slipknot - Duality - Dance Orb - Boxed

This song is not necessarily my groups taste in music but regardless we had to get to work. After researching  other heavy metal bands like The Damned Things and Hypocrisy and record labels like NUCLEAR BLAST RECORD LABLE and METAL BLADE RECORDS my team decided to name our band "SCARZ" pretty cool name for a heavy metal band right?

But, picking the name of the band was the easy part, now we have to make the video that checks up with the lyrics, which are not ideal since we do not listen to this genre "I push my fingers into my eyes its the only things that slowly stops the ache" HUH? After a long brainstorming session we decided on the following video which these storyboard pictures

Although we struggled this was a fun project to work on specially the shooting of the video we had a ton of fun exploring a new genre of music we were unfamiliar with
